Convenience

POS systems for convenience stores

Fast lanes, item-level age, date and time restrictions, singles, packs and cases, and cash that has to balance across long hours and several shifts. BizTracker specifies, sets up and supports convenience store systems on Infinity.

Remote setup and training nationwide. Onsite service across Tampa Bay.

What does a convenience store POS need?

A convenience POS has to be fast at the register, apply configured customer-age, date and time restrictions to controlled items, keep singles, packs and cases straight in inventory, and make cash accountable across shifts. BizTracker configures Infinity for the register and the back office, checks how the store’s singles, packs and cases will be set up before any quantities are loaded, sets up any benefit programs the store’s authorization, processor and device allow, and trains the staff before go-live.

Convenience is a volume business with thin lines and heavy compliance exposure. The register workflow and the back office matter more than the feature list, and fuel is a separate question from the in-store system altogether.

  • Speed at the laneTransactions are small and constant; seconds compound.
  • Age-restricted item controlsCustomer-age, date and time restrictions belong in the item setup rather than only in staff memory.
  • Singles, packs and cases kept straightA case received and sold as singles still has to count correctly.
  • Cash accountable by shiftLong hours and several cashiers are where drawers come up short.
  • Benefit programs confirmed, not assumedSNAP EBT and eWIC each depend on authorization, processor and device.

Fuel-pump and forecourt integration depends on the equipment in place, so we check the specific site rather than assume. Configured restrictions support the staff; they do not replace checking ID.

What c-store operators bring us

  • Shrink is spread thinly across hundreds of SKUs

No single line looks wrong, and the month still comes up short.

Reporting that surfaces movement anomalies rather than a single total.

    Movement and variance reporting
  • Age-restricted sales depend on staff memory

One missed check is a fine and a license conversation.

Customer-age, date and time restrictions configured on the controlled item.

    Age-restricted items
  • The back office runs on a spreadsheet

Ordering and pricing decisions lag a week behind the store.

Back-office control over the item file and pricing from one place.

    Inventory management
  • SNAP EBT is handled as an exception

Tender mistakes at the lane, and reconciliation work afterwards.

Eligible items and split tenders set up in the item file and tested on the processor and device the store uses.

  • Drawers come up short and nobody knows which shift

Long hours and several cashiers turn a shortage into an argument instead of a finding.

Till counts per shift, with every drawer opening, void and refund attributed to an employee.

What a convenience configuration includes

The counter

The convenience store counter

A convenience counter is small, busy and open long hours, so every device is chosen for speed and for staying up through the late shift.

  • A checkout station built for volume

A register, a scanner placed where the cashier actually hands products across, a receipt printer and a cash drawer, sized for constant small transactions.

    Hardware for Infinity
  • Controls on restricted products

Customer-age, date and time restrictions are configured on the item record; operator-age validation can require supervisor authorization when enabled.

    Age-restricted items
  • Payment devices for what the store accepts

Card processing for Infinity runs through Bold or Hybrid. SNAP EBT and eWIC need the store’s authorization, and a processor and device confirmed for them.

    eWIC POS systems
  • Shelf tags for a long item list

A label printer for shelf tags and price changes across a long tail of lines, printed from the item file rather than written by hand.

    Label printers
  • Receiving direct-store deliveries

A portable data collector for checking vendor deliveries at the door and counting the shrink-sensitive categories between them.

    Portable data collectors
  • A receipt printer for constant small sales

A receipt on almost every sale, so the printer is chosen for reliability and quick reloading rather than features.

    Receipt printers
  • A cash drawer, and who opened it

Specified with the receipt printer that usually opens it. Who opened it is recorded by cash management in the POS, not by the drawer.

Before you buy

What to make a convenience store POS demonstrate

Ask to see the awkward sales, not only the easy ones: a single, a multipack, a case, a restricted item and a split basket. Any system looks fast ringing one item.

  • A case sold as singles and packs

Ask to see a case received on an order, sold as singles and as a pack, then counted, and check whether the inventory and the margin are still right at the end.

    Inventory management
  • A restricted sale under pressure

Ask to see the customer-age restriction on the item and, where operator-age validation is enabled, the supervisor-authorization flow for an under-age operator.

    Age-restricted items
  • A split tender with SNAP EBT

Eligible and ineligible items in one basket, paid partly with SNAP EBT and partly with card or cash, and what the cashier sees. Live acceptance is confirmed for the store’s authorization, processor and device.

  • A vendor delivery that arrives short

A direct-store delivery received with a missing line and a new cost, and the shelf price reviewed as a result.

    Purchase orders
  • A shift closed out

The drawer counted down against a recorded figure, with the voids, refunds and no-sale openings behind any difference.

Going live

What getting a convenience store live involves

A convenience store rarely closes for a changeover, so the work is done before the date and the lanes move over in a planned order.

  • Items, packs and cases

Products and departments converted from what the current system can export, with how singles, packs and cases will be set up agreed and checked before inventory quantities are loaded.

    Data conversion
  • Restricted item controls

Customer-age, date and time restrictions configured on the item file and tested before the first shift trades on them.

    Item file setup
  • Payments and benefit programs

Card processing through Bold or Hybrid, and SNAP EBT or eWIC where the store is authorized, set up and tested at each lane before go-live.

    Start with a statement review
  • Training for every shift

Cashiers, shift leads, receivers and managers trained on their own tasks, remotely anywhere in the country or onsite across Tampa Bay.

Convenience POS questions

Does it support SNAP EBT and eWIC?

Infinity supports SNAP EBT and eWIC workflows, and whether a particular store can use them depends on its SNAP retailer authorization, its state WIC agency, the processor and the payment device. We confirm each of those for your store, because card processing working does not mean EBT will.

How are age-restricted items controlled?

Infinity can store customer-age, date and time restrictions on the item. Its Age Restricted Selling setting can also validate the logged-in operator and require supervisor authorization when the operator is too young. These controls support staff; they do not replace checking ID.

Can it integrate with fuel?

That depends entirely on the forecourt equipment already installed. It is a real question with a real answer, and we check the specific site rather than assuming either way.

How should singles, packs and cases be set up?

Before anything is counted in. How a case received and sold as singles is set up decides whether the inventory stays right, so ask to see it demonstrated with the store’s own products, and we check the setup against Infinity before quoting rather than assuming it fits.

Can shortages be traced to a shift?

Yes. Tills are counted per shift against a recorded figure, and drawer openings, voids and refunds carry the employee who made them, so a shortage belongs to a period rather than a week.

Which card processors are used with an Infinity convenience system?

For Infinity systems BizTracker offers two processing paths, Bold and Hybrid, and the choice is made from a current statement and how the lanes take payment. SNAP EBT and eWIC are confirmed separately.
