Barcode scanner questions
What barcode scanner works with my POS or cash register?
It depends on the specific scanner, its interface and how it is configured, as well as your POS software. Check the connection (USB, serial or Bluetooth), the host mode and the cable. Tell us what you use and we will help narrow the right scanner.
What is the difference between a 1D scanner and a 2D imager?
A 1D scanner reads standard UPC and linear barcodes. A 2D imager reads those plus QR codes and other 2D symbols, and can read many phone screens. Confirm which barcode types you need before you choose.
Do I need a cordless scanner?
A cordless or Bluetooth scanner is worth considering where you scan oversized products, shelves or receiving areas. Check which wireless interface your host supports and how the scanner is charged.
Can I use a scanner that is not from my POS vendor?
Many scanners work with different POS software and computers when the host interface and configuration match. Because that depends on the exact model and setup, ask us to confirm before you order.
