Already have a POS?
Replace it, upgrade it, or keep the parts that still work
Most of the stores we take on already have a system. The useful question is not what to buy — it is what to keep, what to replace, and what to move across.
We tell you what is reusable before quoting, not after.
Can I keep the hardware I already own?
Sometimes, and it depends on the specific models rather than on the category. Scanners, printers, drawers and scales are often reusable; a proprietary register usually is not. We check the equipment you actually have and tell you what carries over before anybody quotes a system.
The reason to ask early is money: replacing working peripherals is spend with nothing to show for it, and assuming they work when they do not turns installation day into a problem.
- Peripherals are often reusableScanners, printers and drawers are frequently standard enough to carry over.
- Proprietary registers usually are notClosed hardware tends not to talk to anything else.
- The item file usually can moveWhat matters is what the current system can export.
- It is checked, not assumedModel numbers decide this, and we ask for them.
We will not claim a specific device is compatible without checking it. If we have not verified your model, the honest answer is that we do not know yet.
The situations we are usually called about
-
The system works but the dealer stopped answering
A failure becomes an emergency with nobody to call.
We take over support for existing equipment where we can.
Support -
The software is unsupported or no longer updated
Compliance and payment changes become risks you cannot act on.
Replace the software, keep what hardware is supportable.
-
The store has outgrown a basic register
Inventory and reporting are done outside the system entirely.
Move to a platform where stock and reporting are the system.
Cash register or POS system -
Switching means losing years of history
Nobody wants to start an item file from scratch.
Data conversion scoped from an actual export.
Data conversion -
The grocery system is a decade old
It is holding back everything downstream of it.
A staged replacement rather than a weekend rip-out.

The changeover, in order
How a replacement is staged
A replacement is a sequence, and the order is what lets the store keep trading while it happens.
Check what carries over
Hardware for InfinityScanners, printers, drawers and scales checked by model number, so reusable hardware is known before the quote.
Read the processing position
Statement reviewThe current statement and processing agreement are read first, so whether Infinity takes cards through Bold or Hybrid is decided with the system.
Move the data
Data conversionThe item file and the history the old system can export, scoped from a real export.
Build the new item file
Item file setupCleaned and structured before go-live, not typed in while customers wait.
Train before the lanes move
Installation and trainingStaff learn the new workflow before go-live, and which lanes change over first is part of the plan.
Change who supports it
Switching POS systemsWhere only the dealer is changing, a support handover may be the whole job.
Replacement questions
Can I reuse my existing scanner?
Often, but it depends on the model. Send us what you have and we will tell you before quoting. We will not claim compatibility we have not checked.
Can I reuse my receipt printer?
Frequently yes, for the same reason and with the same caveat: the model decides it, not the category.
Will I lose my sales history?
Usually not. What moves across depends on what the current system can export, so we look at an actual export rather than guessing.
Do you take over support for a system you did not sell?
Where we can support it, yes. That is a common reason retailers come to us.
How disruptive is a changeover?
It depends on the item file and the number of registers. It is scoped and staged deliberately — a store does not have to close for it.
What happens to our card processing when we replace the POS?
It is decided with the system, not after it. If the store moves to Bold or Hybrid, the payment devices, testing and cutover are planned with the Infinity go-live, so software and processing do not change at two different times.
Tell us what you already have
Model numbers where you have them, the current software, and how many registers. That is enough for us to say what carries over.
