SAM4s SPS-500 & SPS-2000 Replacement Guide

The SPS-500 and SPS-2000 combined touchscreen-style POS workflows with ECR-style reliability and extensive peripheral support. Current keyboard-only ECRs do not reproduce that experience one-for-one.

Best replacement path

Classification: workflow review required. For merchants still using touchscreen menus, table service, kitchen routing, complex scanning or multi-terminal workflows, a modern POS/SAM4POS-style system is usually the better direction. If the business has simplified and no longer needs touchscreen workflows, an SPS-300 or ER-900E-family ECR may be appropriate.

Do not choose by model number alone

Review touchscreen workflow, menu structure, remote printers/KDS, scanners, scales, cash drawers, payment integration, networking and reporting before selecting a replacement.
